Guiding New Muslims,
Growing the Ummah

From your first question to your first salah,
we are here with you every step of the way.

Supporting New Muslims on Their Journey

Every year, thousands of people across the United States take a life-changing step: embracing Islam. Saying the Shahada is a profound moment, filled with clarity, hope, and purpose. It marks the beginning of a journey toward understanding, practicing, and living faith. Yet, the path that follows can often feel confusing and overwhelming. New Muslims may wonder: How do I pray correctly? How can I learn about Islam? How do I navigate family, friends, and social situations?
Community experience shows that nearly 80% of new Muslims feel alone or unsupported during their early months. Without guidance, encouragement, and mentorship, many struggle to build confidence in their faith. This is when support matters the most, just as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
At Dawah Institute – Detroit, we recognize that faith grows strongest when nurtured. We are dedicated to walking alongside new Muslims, providing mentorship, education, and community support to help them grow in knowledge, confidence, and connection with the Ummah.

How We Support New Muslims

At Dawah Institute – Institute, our programs are designed to meet the spiritual and practical needs of every new Muslim:

Personal Mentorship

Each new Muslim is paired with a trained mentor who provides consistent guidance, answers questions, and offers encouragement throughout the first year. Mentorship helps participants build faith confidently while navigating new challenges.

Welcome & Resource Packages

We provide essential tools for a smooth start: a Qur’an, prayer rug, beginner guides, and trusted educational resources. These packages make learning Islam easier and help new Muslims feel equipped to practice their faith.

Foundations of Faith Classes

Our step-by-step classes cover prayer, core beliefs, daily practices, and personal spiritual growth. Designed specifically for beginners, the classes create a strong foundation, helping new Muslims develop both understanding and confidence.

Community & Social Connection

Faith is strengthened in community. Through gatherings, events, and group activities, new Muslims form meaningful friendships, find belonging, and become active participants in the Muslim community. Social connections are essential for long-term engagement and spiritual growth.
