President/ Executive Director
Imam Ayham MishMishan is a Syrian-American scholar, educator, and community leader devoted to serving Islam and uplifting communities. He is the founder and president of the Dawah Institute in Detroit, Michigan — a vibrant center that has become a true home for new Muslims, providing guidance, education, and a welcoming family for those embracing the faith.
Born into a family that values knowledge and service, Imam Ayham studied with many of the renowned scholars of Damascus and Aleppo, immersing himself in Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh, and the spiritual sciences. Alongside his traditional Islamic studies, he holds academic degrees in Business Administration, Economics, Islamic Studies, and Pharmaceutical Sciences, allowing him to bridge faith and contemporary life with wisdom and practicality.
Through his khutbahs, lectures, and community programs across the United States, Imam Ayham is known for his ability to connect timeless Islamic principles with the challenges and opportunities of daily life. His mission is to nurture hearts, strengthen families, and empower individuals to live Islam with sincerity, balance, and purpose.
Danish Hasan
Director
Danish Hasan has been involved in the nonprofit sector for over a decade and has been a strong advocate for mental health awareness. His dedication to public health was recognized when he became the youngest ever recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award at the University of South Florida. Danish serves as the Director of MY Mental Wellness in Detroit- one of the first ever mental health clinics established inside an American Islamic center. His background also includes expertise in public health, medicine, civic engagement, and healthcare law.
Tarek Dakhlallah, Ph.D.
Vice president / Director
Dr. Tarek Dakhlallah is an electrical and computer engineer with over two decades of experience in the automotive industry. His expertise spans embedded systems, automotive controls, and intelligent computing, contributing to advancements in vehicle safety, performance, and sustainability.
He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, with research focused on the integration of hardware and software systems.
Beyond his professional work, Dr. Dakhlallah actively supports local Islamic associations, promoting education, cultural awareness, and community development. His career reflects a commitment to innovation, lifelong learning, and service.
Ghaithaa Sakkalaek
Director
Ghaithaa Sakkalaek is a distinguished Islamic scholar and educator who has dedicated nearly four decades to the service of the Qur’an and Islamic education. For the past 37 years, she has taught with passion and sincerity, instilling in her students a deep reverence for the Book of Allah and a love for the religion of Islam.
She holds an Ijazah in Qur’an, affirming her mastery and chain of transmission in its recitation and preservation. In addition, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Studies, enabling her to combine sound scholarship with linguistic excellence in her teaching.
Throughout her career, Ghaithaa has touched the lives of countless students across generations, guiding them not only in knowledge but also in spiritual growth. Her lifelong commitment to teaching the Qur’an and Islamic values continues to serve as an inspiration, nurturing hearts and minds with the timeless beauty of faith.
