Each member contributes unique experience and perspective, helping the Institute grow as a center for dawah, education, and new Muslim support. Through scholarship, professional expertise, and community engagement, the leadership team works to ensure that Dawah Institute continues to serve as a welcoming place where people can learn, grow, and strengthen their faith.
Imam Ayham MishMishan
President/ Executive Director
Shaikh Ayham MishMishan is a Syrian-American Islamic scholar, theologian, historian, preacher, and community leader devoted to sharing the timeless wisdom of Islam with individuals and communities. As the founder and president of Dawah Institute – Detroit, he established the center to serve as a welcoming home for seekers and new Muslims, providing guidance, education, and mentorship to help individuals embrace and practice their faith with confidence.
Imam Ayham has spent many years studying under renowned scholars in Syria and internationally. His training combines traditional Islamic sciences with a thoughtful understanding of contemporary challenges. He is well-versed in the study of Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqh, and spiritual sciences, and has also pursued academic studies in Business Administration, Economics, Islamic Studies, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Through khutbahs, lectures, writings, and community programs, Imam Ayham works to connect hearts to faith and inspire people to live Islam with sincerity and purpose. His work includes authoring resources in Arabic and English, delivering inspirational khutbahs, and developing educational materials that encourage spiritual growth and strengthen unity within the community. At Dawah Institute, his focus remains on nurturing faith, guiding new Muslims, and building a supportive environment where knowledge and compassion go hand in hand.
Danish Hasan
Director
Danish Hasan is a dedicated nonprofit professional and advocate for mental health awareness within the Muslim community. He currently serves as the Director of MY Mental Wellness in Detroit, one of the first mental health clinics established within an American Islamic center. His work focuses on supporting individuals and families by addressing both emotional well-being and spiritual health.
With more than a decade of experience across public health, medicine, civic engagement, and healthcare law, Danish brings valuable expertise to Dawah Institute. He is passionate about strengthening communities by promoting awareness, access to resources, and compassionate support systems. His contributions help ensure that the Institute’s programs consider the holistic well-being of the individuals and families it serves.
Tarek Dakhlallah, Ph.D.
Vice president / Director
Dr. Tarek Dakhlallah is an accomplished electrical and computer engineer with more than two decades of experience in the automotive industry. His professional work focuses on embedded systems, automotive controls, and intelligent computing, where he has contributed to the development of advanced technological solutions.
He holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, along with a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Dakhlallah is deeply committed to community service. He actively supports local Islamic organizations and initiatives that promote education, cultural awareness, and community development.
At Dawah Institute, he brings strategic insight and leadership, helping guide the organization’s growth while ensuring that its programs continue to serve the needs of the wider community.
Ghaithaa Sakkalaek
Director
Ghaithaa Sakkalaek is a respected Islamic scholar and educator with nearly four decades of experience teaching Qur’an and Islamic studies. She holds an Ijazah in Qur’an, which affirms her mastery of recitation and her scholarly chain of transmission. In addition, she has earned degrees in Islamic Studies and Arabic Studies, combining deep knowledge of the faith with strong linguistic expertise.
For over 37 years, Ghaithaa has dedicated her life to teaching and mentoring students. Her approach emphasizes both knowledge and character development, helping learners build a meaningful relationship with the Qur’an and Islamic teachings. Through her dedication and guidance, generations of students have strengthened their faith and developed a lasting appreciation for Islamic learning.
Together, the leadership team at Dawah Institute – Detroit combines scholarship, professional expertise, and a shared vision for community growth. Their collective efforts ensure that the Institute remains a place where new Muslims are welcomed, believers are empowered, and Islam is shared with clarity, compassion, and integrity.
